This year, I'll be sort of a vegetarian for four years, no cheating, cold turkey("sort of" because I eat fish). It was really hard for the first few weeks, I felt myself definitely readjusting to it. I even though I was eating, I was starving. I lost some weight at first and I felt incredibly weak. When I came to Stony Brook it was even worse; the best things they had was chicken and really the only thing I could eat was some really bland pasta. I thought about going back a few times, but I never did.
Now, I don't even think about it. I'll admit, when I walk by a popeyes or a west indian resturaunt and smell chicken, I think to myself "Damn, that smells good", but I'm fine. There are alot of things to eat besides meat that are healthy - and not just sea food. I have friends that like to make fun of me for my diet, and to shut them up, I like to show them this little pamphlet I have in the house that shows pictures of these horrible looking animals getting ready for slaughter, and some facts about the steroids, preservatives they're pumped up with --not to mention the animals diet --which is sometimes other animals that died which are ground up and fed to the living ones. I especially like to show them this while they're eating, and say "...and you're talking shit about me eating plants and vegetables??"
