I have a few sites and ideas I'm going to be starting to work on soon and I'm getting a bit excited about competing with that other site I mentioned in my other post. Web development really gives you many opportunities to blend various forms of art together into one functioning system. For example, you have the design aspect of the site, composed of pictures(photography) that may have some corrections and/or added special effects (graphic design), and of course you have a choice of going with a template or creating your own custom layout when it comes to the html. As for the back-end, programming is another art form in an of itself.
As soon as things calm down in the summer for me, I'm going to get back to renewing my certification, and getting a higher level one. I'll also be getting ready to seriously look for some work starting in September. It really doesn't matter which way I go, between programming and IT, I can see myself doing either as I said earlier. What I really hope for is an environment where I get along with people. I remember we had a real asshole at my last job that lost his mind when he was promoted to a supervisor position. No one liked him, and it got so bad that some of the technicians started to sabotage his work. Well.. it was "bad" for him at least. People like that can just mess everything up for you (and the company since it disrupts a smooth running office); fortunately I transferred out of his unit into another sub-department which was sort of a promotion --sort of because my pay didn't change...
Anyway, after that the hardest part of the day for me was getting up in the morning, because work didn't feel much like work. The people around me were all cool to work with and the boss was someone I definitely looked up to and had alot of respect for. One of the things I remember was him saying that he realizes that some days there isn't much to do, so he doesn't mind if you're trying to increase your knowledge and read a book or something; but if you're just laying around doing nothing, you'll receive a write-up. I really respected that.
