London

This is a place I've wanted to visit for years, but never got around to it. I think I'll reward myself by going after graduation -- I try to do things like that (postpone fun) until I finish something I'm working on at that particular time. One of the reasons I want to visit London in particular is because its another country, but everyone speaks English. So, I won't have any problems finding my way around, and I can read everything.

I've seen brief videos of life over there but nothing major. It seems like its New York in an alternate universe; there seems to be many parallels between here and London: they're both big cities with nice looking buildings, they both have a talked about club scene, etc. etc... Funny thing is, the biggest differences I've been able to notice so far are small... For example, they call an "elevator" an "uplift", and they call (potato)"Chips" "Crisps". Pretty trivial, but it has some potential to cause a funny situation if you're standing on a long line and trying to make an order.

I always also try to remind myself that *we're* the ones with the "accent"; its always interesting to think about that. I would also like to know what their opinion about it, since it might probably sound less sophisticated -- the way some people view the Southern American accent compared to someone from a place like New York. I've had friends that went to Florida that say people love the way they talk, but its usually not the case when someone with a thick southern accent visits here.
