After looking over the catholic cosmology pdf, I came across something that reminded me of a paper I wrote a few years ago about Women and their role impression in history (specifically ancient times). The slide titled "Identity" points out that despite the fact that women were incredibly talented and intellectual, they were still only judged and viewed based on men's standards and perceptions.
Back in ancient times though the woman was worshiped in many societies, particularly for their ability to give birth. Women also seem to have been depicted as strong and prominent figures in society (such as various societies in the near east). I had to go and take a few pictures of female depictions as support; I'll post my favorite figurine; a female lion shown to be domineering, displaying her beauty and strength at the same time (or at least that's my opinion; see what you think).
