My family during the british empire rule in India

As most of us know India was a colony of the British empire up until 1947, when India after about 200 years finally gained its independence. Not only was India a colony of the British empire, but the peope of India were also slaves for the British. Many "rajas" or kings, who were the most respected by the people of India, also had to give taxes and follow orders of the British commanders. The misconception was that however, that all Indian people were iether slaves, or worked for the British in India. However, this was not true. My family had a business of their own; a restaurant, during the British rule.

My grandfather ( dad's dad ) came from a very wealthy and respectable family. Although one of 14, he was the one who ran after the family business. Him and all his brothers lived in a mansion in what is now Old Delhi. Everyone knew who my grandfather was in the town. My family was the first family in the neighborhood to own a television when they first became popular in India.

All of my grandfather and his brothers were friendly with the British people. They had lunch, dinners and socialized with the rulers. In fact, my grandfather bought a car from a British officer, and that was the car that was decorated for my grandparents wedding. One of my grandfathers brother, also went to London when the British left, because he got a very good job offer from the British government.

I am very proud to say that I come from a family, who stands out in a positive way from the rest of India. Unlike how most people thought, that all of India was actually slaves of the British Empire, I am a descendant of a family that was friends with the British officers during their rule over India.
