Another hobby I started to take up is photography. My friend had recently bought the Nikon D90, and we went to take some shots of the Brooklyn bridge in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn. I'd like to say that I love that area; its filled with "artsy" people and several creative small businesses in interesting areas such as graphic design, web development, art galleries, studios, etc. I like to see these types of businesses, they are much more interesting to me as opposed to cold, giant corporations that are more like huge juggernaut machines.
We ended up going late but it ended up better that way, because we caught the red sky at sun set. There were various photographers also taking pictures of the scenery and models who where posing around the park. While taking pictures I noticed that you can put your style into anything you do; kind of like leaving a signature without actually signing anything. I'm still debating on which dslr camera to purchase for myself; I'm leaning towards a D90, but I wanted to get something different. During that trip to dumbo, I was taking pictures that I plan to use for the site I mentioned in a previous post. Starting up a site is pretty exciting, especially if you are competing against a site with a similar name.
I remember walking down one of the side streets to go to one of the furniture stores, and seeing two guys working on a graffiti mural; that was about 1-2 years ago I think, and now that mural looks like a masterpiece. I definitely took some pictures of it, but not in an obvious way. I tried to make it looks as if the entire scene (and not just the mural) was the subject, as if the mural being there was just incidental. I wanted to place the picture here but that will have to be in another post because I still didn't get the pictures from my friend. Anyway the mural is of a abstract looking elephant made up of twisting lines. (If you've ever walked around there, you'll probably know what I'm talking about immediately) I'm going to post some pics as soon as I get them.
