I love sushi. I grew up in a family where everything had to be cooked "well done," in other words, killed. So when I had sushi put in front of me for the first time, I was freaked out a little bit. It's fish. And it's raw. That's weird.
Then, there was the problem of the chopsticks. I like to stab my food mercilessly. So how was I, the most graceless eater, supposed to gently surround my food with two fragile wooden sticks? Slowly, I became accustomed to doing so, and now I would consider myself a "semi-pro" (minor accidents still occur).
I'm going out for sushi tonight. It's going to be delicious. I could not imagine a food more fresh, nutritious, or balanced. You've got carbs, protein, and healthy fats. You've got vegetables, meat, and grains. So for all you out there who shy away from the sushi, you don't know what you're missing.
