Status updates, photo comments, relationship status changes, she said this to him, he said this to her, "ohh so they arent facebook friends anymore?..something bad must have really happened between them!"
These are some common things that all addicted facebook users say. I know, because I am one of them. Its truly absurd how a site that was originally made to stay in connection with college friends, has grown to become one of the most logged into site if not number 1. And most people who check it, check it more than once a day. With new technology its easier to be on facebook all the time. iPhone, iTouch apps, allow people to have facebook on their phones. Facebook via text messaging allows you to receive friends updates and send updates through text messaging. Mobil uploads; anytime you see something interesting, take a picture and send it directly to facebook. Isnt all this too much?? Why have people become so dependant on the world of Facebook? I sometimes wonder why have I become so dependant on facebook?
After being on facebook for almost 4 years now, my day feels incomplete if I dont check facebook. Its become like a drug. If i dont have access to a computer, I check it through my phone facebook app. Isnt all this TOO much?? During exams, why cant I stop myself from checking facebook. Why is it that if I dont check facebook I feel like I have missed out?
Its because I have...
People now days tend to tell about their lives through the medium of Facebook.
Even when I meet new people, I tell them to add me on facebook so I could remember them. Its not as if I actually interact with all of them on facebook but it helps me remember them the next time I see them. Its happened that at times people have come up to me, and I have failed to recognize them, because I am not friends with them on facebook.
The argument for whether Facebook is a good thing or a bad thing can go on forever. However one thing is for sure, its popularity amongst all generations is certainly growing by the day. Something that started off as a way for college students to stay connected has gone to having uncles and grandparents.
