The new program we are using in class SketchUp has fascinated me more than any other projects I have done. I was never an art person, so when the professor first assigned this project, i was very hesitant. I never have the time or patience to sit down and think of things to create, imagine and actually put out. However, once I got the hang of sketchUp, I cant stop using it. We were only supposed to create 6 projects before today but I created so many more. I think the reason for this is because, the program allows me to put out and make things my way. For example, I made one drawing of a small house with a deck and a pool. It sounds simply, but for an artistically challenged person, even drawing something so simple as a house on a peice of paper was a really big challenge. But SketchUp allowed me to make the house, an ideal house in America. A cute, brick house with white fence, a big backyard with a pool and a deck.
More than anything else, the program makes things you think are impossible to take out of your mind and put on a peice of paper or to display to the world so much easier. the program has so many tools, that are there to help you and make your life simple. I have many ideas in my mind that I want to import into the program, such as a design for how I want my apartment in the city to look. Or how I want my personal closet to look, things like that.
I think the program is great for people who are interested in architecture and interior designing. Instead of having to draw every little bit of detail out like they must have had to do back in the day, everything is on 1 small file in the computer. Not only that, but instead of having to draw out each side of for example a monument an architecture wants to contruct, they only have to construct it once on this program and through the animation tool, give a full 3D view to their viewer.
