In class today when we were discussing if facebook was over exposure of oneself. I personally feel that people get out of control with it and tend to share too much information that serves no purpose. I feel that our society today has become depressing with how obsessed they have become with social networking, particularly facebook. People have notifications sent to their emails, phones and check it constantly on the computer. Rather than worry about important current events, people would rather read about the status posts of a bunch of either acquaintances or even strangers.

I am definitely a social person and prefer interacting face to face with people, rather than create a fake persona behind a computer screen. I don't see why people find it interesting to read about other people's lives since if you have to read about it, you clearly aren't very close. My birthday passed this Friday and it was comical to me to sign on and have birthday wishes from people I have not spoken a word to since high school. I even received messages from people saying, "I know you don't know me, but I wanted to wish you a happy birthday."...Really? I don't take the facebook world seriously and you can tell that from my profile.

Facebook I feel does nothing but allow yourself to be judged by your peers based on what you choose to put up to represent yourself. I feel I belong in a time where all the social interactions took place outside of the house where people had to know how to communicate with one another to get by. Instead, people are choosing to define themselves through posts, pictures and status updates and it is not a reality.
