What a night

I had a really good night last night. I needed to vent a little so I went to a luau party. It was awesome except for some minor incidents once the party was over. I'm a pretty down to earth person. I can strike up a conversation with anyone, in any scene. So going to the party was easy, even if I only knew a few people. I was working at first. I actually had no plans for the night. I was closing my store and headed home until one of the bartenders that I know from TGIF in my area, contact me and let me know about the luau party. Since the location is literally steps away, I gathered a couple of my friends and before you know it it was about five of us enjoying the night. Jello shots, a DJ and good company. It does not get better than that. We hula hooped and met new people. However, as TGIF was closing, that is when the night turned sour. Well, at least for the person involved. I still believe I had an amazing night. So one of the drunk, young kids at the bar (I say young because I had the opportunity to converse with one of his friends and he mentioned how old he was) decides to get behind the wheel and pretend that he is some kind of race car driver. He begins to do 360's with his car and eventually hits a light pole. His car got totalled and he got arrested not before he puked all over the officers' feet. I know that cop must have been very upset. The next day, my friend who is the bartender there told me that the kid had totalled his car, and that his mother had to come all the way from upstate, NY to bail him out. The bail was set at 6,000 and he got fined as well as 3 yrs probation on his license and a DUI. Crazy right? He was 21 by the way. What a way to start your twenties.

What compels people to drink to the point that they cannot function? And then they behave so stupid. It’s funny because some of his friends were really nice and we actually got a chance to mingle and talk to some of them. I find it strange that none of these so called friends were there when he was being cuffed. Everybody pretty much left him alone. I guess it is because most of them were drinking too and they probably did not want to get busted, specially when they are witnessing what is happening to his friend. I don't know. I don't want to pass judgement. I know they would say "oh he is young, he's just enjoying life", but I don't call that enjoying life. It's more like deliberately destroying your life.
