I must be persistent when I start teaching

I think teacher persistence helps foster effective teaching. It promotes high expectations for students which is needed for students to believe they can be successful. If teachers continue to teach the way that they do, this generation will be unprepared to face the trials coming.

Everyones’ help is needed to promote this persistence from teachers. Those educating teachers now need to support the development of teachers. I had an amazing Linguistics teacher this past spring semester. She helped each and every one of use understand that we were the ones that were going to make a difference in today's’ students. She helped us believe that we will either help them be successful or cause them to fail because they can have all the motivation in the world to succeed , but if they sense that we are giving up on them it is over from that day.

I have observed many teachers and honestly it scares me. I do not want to turn into one of those teachers that says “I’m just here to teach”. As a teacher I believe I’m there to not only educate, but also learn how to make it easier for them to understand the importance of education in these young minds. We should be seen as their mentors and not as an authority that they have to obey. Yes, respect must be instilled but not accompanied by fear.
