I will soon know who my true friends are

So I started to advise my “so called friends” on facebook that I would be cancelling my facebook account soon. I don’t access it anymore and most of the people on there are people that I have met in the past 7 years working for the company that I work for. I only have one sister there and she barely even talks to me. So, I pretty much put a message on my wall saying that I would soon cancel my facebook account because I found no use to it. I immediately began getting responds saying “omg, how am I supposed to stay in contact with you, or how will I know how you are doing”, among just a few. Now, every single person on my facebook with the exception of 7, are people that have my cell or know someone close enough to me to obtain it from them. I did not understand what the big deal was.

The social networking sites have only aided technology on making society so dependent on it. Whatever happened to texting someone or even giving them a call. I’m not a phone person, but I would appreciate a call of someone who I haven’t heard from in a while. To be honest I barely keep in contact with most of the people on my facebook, and like I said most of them work for the same company I do so they can find me on our company outlook. Actually maybe I will “de-friend” some people and just keep my immediate circle of friends which I like to keep very small. It’s probably going to make some people very mad, but like I said some are not really friends at all.
