As everyone already knows in this class, I work for a wireless company. A very well known one for that matter. As a company we stress the importance to customers to stay in the "know" and move along with the everyday changes of technology. Now, I agree with this statement to a certain degree, but shouldn't you practice what you preach? When I first started working for this company about 7 years ago, we use to use a DOS system on our computers, pretty much for everything. They finally got rid of that after using it for decades (I have to admit, it was the best system to work with because it never crashed). However, the new system they came up with gave us so much trouble we were soon begging to have our old DOS system back.
Today, we work off of a new system, which supposedly gets updated every couple of months. A lot of employees hate it and wherever they get a chance they give it bad reviews. However, with all the technology updates going on all around us, and all the profit that they make they can invest a little more in a more effective point of sale system as well as new computers. Our computers are so old. For some things the company gets smart, but for others they just simply behave as if they didn't know what they are doing. They recently made huge cut backs on advertising and merchandising material. Our advertising magazines used to be huge and thick. They made separate ones for Spanish and English customers. They finally got smart and combined them together in one and decreased it's size in width and depth. Now, let's see what else they can do so that maybe they can provide us with decent computers.
