Fifty Percent
There was a boy just entering college, thinking of all what was laying ahead of him. His mind was centered, determined, and open to knowledge. But, things can turn upside down quicker than the blink of an eye. Soon, there was something wrong with him. He went through what seemed like a merry go round of doctors who just kept finding more problems. First, he was said to be depressed, had a severe anxiety disorder, had damage to his back and neck that caused chronic pain with no solution but little circles, squares, capsules to take every day to become "normal." But when the doctors told him he might have cancer in two parts of his neck he realized those pills were just a cover up. Cancer has no pill, no cure. Biopsies were done, the smallest mass came back benign, but the 2cm mass on his thyroid is still questionable. He's 50 percent closer to his heart coming to rest, his insomnia to leave. But, he's still got 50 percent to go and his hands are shaking harder than ever as he types this note.
