Fighting For Your Dreams: fictional movie

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2tcpcgE5Us&feature=player_embedded

Fighting for your Dreams

After much hard work Riti and I finally finished our fictional movie. The movie is basically about an average American family that has to deal with the hardships of having two family members fighting in the war. We tried to focus of relationships between the father and mother and the parents and the children. Another main subject that we tried to focus on is stereotypes and living one’s dream. We want to make a point that nothing is impossible if you believe in it. Make sure you click on the youtube link to check it out! Thank you.

iPad as center console?

So far, the only thing about the iPad that has interested me is the fact that some custom auto shops have been trying to use it as a center console. This would control everything from climate control, to the sound system, to even possibly making phone calls via bluetooth. So far, this is the most practical use I have seen for this device, because by itself, it is just an overgrown iPod touch.

home away from home

Ever since I came to Stony from CT, Queens has been like my home away from home, thanks to my roomate. The first time I ever went to Queens I met 30 people, all of which became my friends instantly and now I spend the weekends there more than I do at my own home. I wasn't so sure about going to school down on the island, but now I'm glad I chose to get away from my rural town

I need a job

Summer starts in 17 days, and I need to get a job, stat! Ive been searching high and low for weeks now and applied for 5 or 6 positions, ranging from delivery driver to warehouse assistant to salesperson. I never really realized how hard it is to get a job now. I must have gotten lucky for my past 2 jobs or something. Well, wish me luck, and good luck to all the other job seekers out there.

Soldier

I have a friend who is a tricker who use to do all the martial art flips and tricks in the army. I talked to him and I am going to see if he can answer a few of my questions on video and then send me the footage and I can just post it on here. So I am just thinking of some questions like. How has your life changed since you have been in the army. Would you go back again. Do you feel you have more stress after returning and does it go away as time goes on. Do you think we should be other there and that kind of stuff. I am just to think of more so if you have some post them of Blogger for me to find.

Amazing

My friend just sent me this video and this guy is amazing. He is ridiculously talented and I'm just amazed at all of the cool effects he can do! In this video, make sure to watch the time clock at the top right of the page.

S**t happens!!!

As I sit here beside my best friend I realise that anything can happen at any given moment. To expect the unexpected is to prepare for the dilemas that life throws at you. I say this because my friend is curretently confined to walking around in a boot for 6 weeks after getting a stress fracture in her shin. To go from running everyday to now struggling to walk normally is probably a bit of an overstatement but i wouldn't be too far off. Here is direct quote from the golden girl herself "After being in a boot and on crutches only a few months previous to this, I never thought I'd see the day again so soon where I would be back in this God for saken thing. To be back being envious of people who can use there legs efficiently and realising we take for granted the simple things in life such as being able to walk normally and comfortably is like I'm being put in this situation again becasue I didn't learn enough or feel bad enough the first time."
Though we go through these obstacles in life we need to overcome them as best we can otherwise we will keep falling and it will come to a point where we will we never be able to conquer or triumph over these tests in life. It's not about how far you fall it's about how you get back up. It is true to say that one has not truly failed until one has given up!

City Trip 2

Over thought/Under thought

So I needed to make a vest.
Fantastic.

All the questions and jeers about that aside, I'm currently going through the over thinking part of most of the things I do that result in a grade. Should I have put that gear on? Maybe I should have dumped that idea and made a pocket instead. Could I have stayed that extra two hours and made arrangements with work? Could I have asked her to do the pocket during her class without it seeming rude? Could I get away with it on monday?

Buh.
Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be fine. I always do this. I need to stop.
One week left.

Contacting a Solider

So I sent the letters to each site Baldwin told us about.

No response yet.

But all this made me think about the people I do know in the military. I know of a few people in high school that I talked to every once in a while. One of them actually did a stint the summer right after high school, and another one of them joined the reserves in her college. They were both really excited about it, and the school was too. I think they had an assembly about them... but I could be making that up.

Everyone on my dad's side (with the exception of my dad) served too. My uncle actually got the Purple Heart. It's in my Grandma's house somewhere. My Grandfather was a fighter pilot in WWII and he was in the paper a couple of times.

This being said, this will be the first real contact with the force (should it ever come to fruition).

Campus Architecture

I was on the 7th floor of SBS the other day and was observing our campus from the air. I decided to take some random pictures, try to get the "rule of three" involved, and noticed that all the buildings seem to be pretty similar, ugly. The sun was at a cool angle so it added a nice effect. Nothing crazy exciting to be honest, but enjoy...

Filming

Some quick shots of our film in progress, right before the big suicidal jump.

Downport

Went downport the other day to escape campus. Found a cool beach and a pier, and just relaxed. Skipped my history class, but it felt so good to just relax, enjoy the breeze, and think about nothing for once. I think we all need to learn to be able to do that sometimes, I feel like too many students get wrapped up in school and dont appreciate college for what it is. College is also a time for social learning and learning to cope with stress. If we don't, we're surely screwed in the real world.... or maybe this is just my justification for skipping a class... who knows.

Iphone

I just got an Iphone this semester, and wow am I amazed. I've never had a smart phone or anything very fancy, so this thing really blows my mind. I find myself often snapping pictures with its camera, mainly because the quality is so good. Its such a handy piece of technology that I'm not sure I could survive without now that I have one. Here is a look at my semester through my Iphone so far...

Seen it all

Ive got ice in my veins, blood in my eyes, hate in my heart, nights filled with pain, days all the same. Ive seen all the blood sweat and tears, all the ignorance that'll never understand, and seen things that would change anyone's world. Im not the only victim, most people always have some underlying problem at least. But, when your days turn into just a question of what crap are you gonna have to take care of today, what effing test they're running to find cancer, what prescriptions to keep you sane are running low, what day this week might you fall asleep, when will everything be okay, you've got some serious issues and nothing helps to clear the pain. Im stuck in a house taking care of my sister until she can get out, hoping to something up there that will keep her mind from getting like mine, I lay on the floor at night resting instead of sleeping ear stuck to the floor to hear any commotion. I may not have seen it all, but I've seen enough. Where is this God they speak of? Is he busy with other things? Or is he just something to waste you're time on asking for things no one can deliver? Please someone riddle me that. If you believe, tell me why he's got me into this.

Penthesilea Theater

The scene in my playhouse is when Pentheslea falls off her horse and Achilles is able to escape

War

Just found these photo's on the internet when I was looking for information on getting in contact with soilders who have experienced or who are experiencing the effects of war. I thought these images really depicted tragedy of the commons.

America East Conference Champs

This weekend is the conference championship for America East Track and Field. Stony Brook will be represented by several fine athletes, with some having the ability to run at the National championship in June. Our own Patricia Barry and Iain Whitfield will be both running the 5k on Saturday representing the Seawolves. Unfortunately due to injury, I will not be competing, but will be thinking of them, as I sit here on campus the entire weekend. Woop!

Goldstein Center

Well I am currently in the athlete academic center, also known as Goldstein. Renee is sitting behind me, and we were actually just thinking about how loud this room can be. It doesnt help studying, because you have 50+ football, lacrosse and baseball players yelling and listening to music. This is such a great resource that we have as athletes, our own private computer lab, tutors, and conference areas, but at the same time, sometimes it becomes too loud. I often find myself immersing into the general student population, studying in public places such as the library or starbucks. I think a few other athletes will agree with me when I say, although we are privileged, sometimes its nice to be a normal student.

Real Kleist Penthesilea

Plot Line.... Sexual Frenzy

The Greeks are planning to attack Troy and siege the city. Belligerent women interrupt the attack. The Greeks go the Amazon Queen for answers, because they are pissed their attacks plans (Agamemnon is leader) were disrupted.

Then achilles is captured by Penthesilea (Amazon Queen) He has a chance to escape, but his horse and cart collapse and he is put out of action. Penthesilia is getting closer and closer but she falls off her horse and gets away.

The greeks lose against the Amazons. The greeks are celebrating the return of Achilles and The Amazons are celebrating their victory. Penthesilea is really mad because her lover and soul mate Prothoe fell in love with a greek POW. She settles the disputes because she can't live without him.

The arch priest of the Amazon is dividing the prisoners to the women of the tribe. They all begin ton quarrel and in result, the will but be hospitable to the captured greeks.

Penthesilea and Achilles begin to fight, she is warned to end the fight but she doesn't leave

As the Greeks attack, she refuses to leave without consoling anyone. Her choice is fatal. After he kills her, he falls in love with her, and has necrophilia with her dead corpse...

Eating habits

i noticed today that I have not eaten a single solid fruit this entire semester. What is up with that?! i have salads for lunch a lot, and i cover all the grains and the meats, dairy is no problem either. Theres just something about the fruit that Ive had here that sjust not good. Its slimy, almost, and a bit unappetizing. go stony!

Penthesilea- Opera

the opera influenced Kleirst is about the love affair between the Amazon Queen Penthesilea and Achilles. Achilles defeats the Queen, but falls in love with her. because the Amazon code prohibits contact with men, unless they were defeated by the amazon, Achilles convinces her he had been defeated in their battle. Under the impression that she had won, Penthesilea falls for Achilles. She eventually learns the truth and and her loves turns into hatred. He challenges her to a second dual, and plans to go unarmed.... he does but she savagely slaughters him.

AnySoldier.com

SO I made an account on anysoldier.com and explored its potential for the Tank presentation. You can video and text chat a soldier. When I logged on and explored, there were no soldiers logged onto the sight. Also, the middle east is +8.5 hours. When I attempted at 8 pm here, it was 4.48 am. It will be difficult to log in during the mid term at 1 pm and expect a huge crop of video chats as it will be 9.30 in Iran and Iraq. It is worth giving it a try but I think having a soldier read a script is a little unrealistic
