A change in presidencial communication

The medium from which the public receives its information from the President has changed. It is clear that President Obama has chosen to avoid the traditional front line White House press corps in favor of utilizing new media options that arguably are more accessable to the society of today.

Social networking sites such as Facebook, Youtube and Twitter have become favorites of President Obama. Like his predecessors, Obama scheduled press conferences in the months directly after his inauguration, yet he has chosen to bypass the press of The Oval Office since July of last year. Seven months is a long stretch for any President and by all accounts it seems as though the change is here to stay.
