Being a theater major, there's a lot that comes before the show - that bit everyone sees and pays for and applauds for at the end. Like everyone waking past the group, it's confusing, alien, almost baffling - because we're used to the finished product. Results. It's nothing compared to the amount of preparation and planning. Though our midterm was, admittedly, seemingly sporadic - there was still a prep time. Things still needed to be taken care of: stuff plugged in, computers booted up, backs stretched, plans planned, fabrics stretched, projectors tested, angles tried, wires unraveled, programs started, machines hooked up, and videos played. And that's just the thirty minutes I was there for.
Everything has a sort of 'preparation' to it. Ovens need preheating. Buildings need plans. Paintings need inspiration. Relationships need time. Programs need coding. Books need ideas. Even the smallest task, even if we don't realize, has a rapid thought. The brain is fascinating that way. we think of things without even realizing, even out movements my fingers typing these words are all backed by rapid thought. Everything has a construction behind it, even a simple thought. even a reflex. Imagine, then, how much it must take to build an entire civilization, create a new invention, create a new artform, much less make it popularized and renowned.
Funny how we only appreciate the final result with so much more to value behind it all.
