Snowboarding and Speed skating

Shaun White, Apolo Anton Ohno, and J.R. Celski are three of my favorite athletes competing in the Olympics currently. They have been practicing ever since they were young and have unbelievable talent. Shaun White just received another gold metal recently with a score of 46.8/50.0 for snowboarding. In his voluntary second run, he received a score of 48.4/50.0. He flew so high into the air during his two runs that I don’t even know how it’s possible. In the 1500 m men’s speed skating event, Apolo Anton Ohno overtook his fellow competitors by moving from fourth place to second, earning himself a silver metal. J.R. Celski received a bronze metal. The dedication these three men put into their sport is incredible. They are so focused on doing their best and nothing can stop them. I admire them on how far they’ve come to get where they are today, especially because getting to the Olympics is no easy task.

Winter Olympics!

The Winter Olympics began tonight with the opening ceremony in Vancouver. The opening events are incredible so far with various dancers and singers. The production is amazing – there are so many lights and colors that light up the entire place. I really love the Olympics, whether I’m watching the summer or winter games. There is something so powerful and moving about countries from all over the world coming together to participate in various games and events. I feel as if society comes together for a short amount of time to cheer on their favorite athletes and support their country. It must be an incredible feeling for anyone at the Olympics – performing for millions and millions of people watching from all over the globe doing what you truly love and getting a chance to share it with others.
