after living in primitive times... sort of

Imagine a world with no electricity, no hot water, no DVR, and NO INTERNET! What??? Well, that is how i lived from 4 pm Saturday until 12 am this morning. Four days with no electric, some might think this the worst thing ever, but I found it incredibly refreshing and relaxing.
While annoying to have to travel almost a mile to my local library I did not find it so horrible. The library was the place for refuges of the storm to recharge their cell phones and to get some wifi. Amazing how some people will go so crazy when disconnected.
People were finding new things to do, they were renting out books from the library and communicating with other humans. Face to face, no chat roulette mumbo jumbo, the real thing. I saw chubby kids bouncing balls for the first time what else are they supposed to do without their xbox? But they have left the world of the cyber-piazza where they can only see people from the shoulders up and participated in the real world. All this actual reality in comparasion to ALL the virtual realities that people are participating in on facebook and myspace and all these social (or anti-social as I like to put it) networking sites.
Perhaps that is what we need. A worldwide blackout for people to get back to the simplicity of life. Just kidding... But seriously what is wrong with a world where people actually leave their houses and go to to the library for books and they don't just torrent them. This whole -you can do anything, on the internet thing is a little pathetic at times. Not saying that I did not check my facebook at the library first and see what is going on in cyberland. I just think being connected all the time is not really natural and maybe sometimes we all need a little power outage.
