Good Friday

Today is Good Friday, and it also happens to be my sister's birthday. In my religion, today is the most somber day of the year, and it should be a day of mourning. However, as with all birthdays, the act of celebrating seems a necessity. It is hard to try and balance the two completely opposite feelings. My family is mournful of the events that happened so long ago, and so happy for the life that was created not nearly as long ago. It seems like a contradiction, but isn't life like that all the time?

Religion

Is there a God or not? If there is, how do we know? Well, I’m a very strong believer in God and it’s not necessarily that I believe in one religion. I do follow one but I like a little bit of what each one has to say. All religions have the same message to spread about doing well in life and having good virtues. In my free time I like to search these kinds of things out and read about the stories of god and I always find out something interesting that may or may not be true but reading it is definitely an inspiration. I went to a Catholic School all my life and I always came back home to compare it to my own religion. It’s amazing how many similarities I found. Some of the stories about Jesus were very similar to the stories of the Hindu God, Krishna. I find that more amazing that anything. Religion bounds a person and makes him think to always think before acting. It sets the morals for a person, whether or not we all follow it is different, but it’s always on the back of everyone’s mind. We go to the temple or church. Why? We pray for our loved ones, our exams, our lives to go well. Are humans just a bunch of selfish people? We always want more. We want happiness for our family. We want to be stable in life. I guess that’s just how we are.
