iPhone vs. blackberry
it has recently been put out there that the iPhone will be coming to Verizon within a few months. Or at least that is the rumor unless AT&T renegotiates another exclusivity deal with Apple. In the event that the iPhone does come to Verizon i will be faced with the decision of a lifetime. Stay with my blackberry, which i love. i have the Tour and it's a great phone. Or do i switch to the iPhone. Is it all hype. i had a iPod touch... until i lost it on the train, and i really didn't love it. i know it sounds weird, but i wasn't too crazy about the touch screen. i did love the game of UNO and Phase 10 apps i had, but that was about it. i much prefer my classic iPod. i must admit for a phone the iPhone 4 is kinda sexy. i guess i can't decide either way until i hear the official word if Apple will team with Verizon.
Hard Work vs. Talent II (an example via boxing)
One recurring theme I've seen throughout sports, the workplace, and just about anywhere else is that as time goes on, talent eventually fades, while skill increases with practice. One of my favorite examples is contrasting two boxers: Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins. Roy Jones was definitely the more talented boxer, and the most popular. He was lightning fast, had amazing reflexes and could get away with breaking many boxing principles, like protecting your chin at all times. He was so fast that sometimes he'd hit his opponent, pull his hand back before they'd even react to the hit.
Hopkins on the other hand wasn't as fun to watch, because he didn't participate in any ring antics, and didn't seem to be putting on a performance --he just concentrated on winning the fight. His trainers used to say he practically lived in the gym. They faced each other twice each winning one --the recent one going to Hopkins. Today, Bernard Hopkins shines more than Roy Jones because he actually got better with age, while Roy Jones really degenerated, because instead of training the way he was supposed to, he simply depended on his natural talents, that faded as he got older and his body changed. Hopkins on the other hand got better because he depended on his acquired muscle memory and the thousands of hours he spent running drills that are now unforgettable to him. Still and all, they are both going into the hall of fame.

Tanning
Today I finally had a day off. I had nothing to do, no obligations. I was excited because I could lay out and tan. Then I started to think, when did tanning becoming what was attractive in our society? I mean you have people that just like to get a little color, but we all know we have seen orange species walking around.
In the winter I go tanning, I don't know if I genuinely think that I look better with a tan, or its because what is thought to be attractive. It is such a damaging thing, yet so many people continue to do it. People will do anything to be good looking even if it risks their health.
This is definitely a new trend because I know my parents do not care about any of those things. They grew up with whoever could work the hardest, would make it the best in life. Now it is felt that the better looking you are, the more opportunities you will have and sadly, that's party true.

That show made me so sad
I was watching the MTV show called "16 and pregnant". It was my first time watching this and I felt so sad. A teenage girl was pregnant at the age of 16 and her boyfriend currently 16 as well, and she decided that she was giving the baby up for adoption. Now I admired the 16 years old becasue that has got to be a very hard decision to make. You could see it in her eyes as she was handing her baby away, but I felt even more sad for the 16 year old father. Why? Well, the girl made the decision to give up the baby for adoption without his consent and her reason was "it's my body and I'm not ready for this". I respect that she is mature enough (to a certain degree I guess) and decide that adoptice parents can offer her more than she can right now, but not only was her boyfriend against her decision, but so were her parents. Her parents reassured her constatntly that they would be there to support her and the baby and her boyfriend would cry to her and beg her to change her mind. When the baby was born, she did not even want to hold the baby and the new daddy was crying at her bedside beggiing her to reconsider. I felt so bad for him.
I do not know if their relationship will survive from here on out. Honestly, if a decision such as giving my child up for adoption was made without my consent, I don't think I would be able to continue the relationship. I almost feel as if this 16 year knew that he was young and inexperienced, but he was willing to learn what he needed to do.
I don't think anyone is prepared to be a parent. Does age matter? Maybe, but learning to be a parent is learned along the way just like we all learn how to hold our heads up, crawl, walk, and go potty. I don't know, but I think she shuld have consulted with her boyfriend as well.

About Flash and Sketchup
I've been browsing the Internet on tutorials for learning flash. They have been actually pretty helpful. I have to say, I never thought I be learning to do the things that I have learned in a theatre class. I assumed our class would have to do with some sort of art and pictures and interpreting modern books written by people of different cultures, but what the heck do I know. I plan to make it a point to learn Flash little by little on my own. It has so many great uses to it and as Sara mentioned, I think it will put me at an advantage in the workforce. I have already began to work on my son's birthday party invitations as well as my niece's. I'm enjoying myself too as I discover the different kind of things you can do with it. My son loves to watch me fool around with it. I learned how to draw a ball and then add some kind of movement (I can't remember what it was called), and the ball bounces in the direction of the path I drew out for it. Cool huh?
I think the hardest part about working with flash is the many times you discover how to do something new and actually remember how you did it. I guess that just as with anything else, practice makes perfect. Sketchup was a whole different ball game. I struggled a lot with it. I don't know why. I guess I was just so out of practice with Autocad. I did manage to finally mount the pictures I wanted in the scaffolding. I also managed to mount my pictures on a model I dowloaded, but I forgot to pay attention to the amount of MB. When I tried to even send it via email, it was way too large. However, I'll have it in my computer tomorrow so I can show the rest of our class.
