Yea! Money

I love golf outings. Basically a company will rent out the golf course, usually on a Monday or a Tuesday. I work the bar, and generally its only beer, wine, and soda which is good because pulling all the liquor and doing inventory on it is what takes the most preptime, so without it, I don't have to do much. I think the guys came in around 1230 today and were completley out by around 2 and I made a nice chunk of change. I worked that wedding on sunday and split 30 bucks between 3 guys (lame). I think because these guys all work together so they want to show their coworkers how they are such good tippers. It's only a theory, kinda lame, but if it's money in my pocket, whatever. I'm telling you kids, try to get your foot in the door bartending. Most places won't hire you without experience but if you can find a way to barback or something, it is the best job for quick cash, which will help with the alcoholism that you'll develope

Stony Brook Swindle

So the question is where does all my money go? Every year i spend thousands of dollars to attend the accredited University of Stony Brook and I still feel my money is not well spent. I feel the money could be used to update the crappy computers in the Library or to provide students with goggles when in a Lab class. Its just the little things that add up , for example , purchasing a scan tron ! I think that the school should try to help to fund us for more important things that we need directly. Here is a video of me expressing my feelings.

$$$$$

I am pretty bad with money. That is to say, I am generous. I like to show the people that I love that I love them, and while I don't want to buy their affection, I like to spoil them. I suppose that is better than the person that saves all of their money and is stingy with it. Anyway, what with soon entering the real world, I need to show my appreciation for my loved ones in a different way. I can't spend my money as freely as I used to. I need to save up for an apartment somewhere, tuition, little things like food, and clothing, and maybe a car. I'm kind of scared about all these expenses, but I'm hoping I win the lottery and don't have to worry about it...

What is Our Drive?

If what Freud says is true, man is driven by animalistic urges rather than intellectual ones. Are we as a species driven only by the incentive of sex? In today's world, is money the new sex? Are we all so busy chasing the green as our ultimate goal that it affects our every action? I sure would like to think that we are a bit more evolved than this but honestly, as we know, and will come to realize even more clearly once we graduate, is that money makes the world go round. Why shouldn't we just accept that and go with it? One person isn't going to change that, no matter how unfair it may seem. That may seem materialistic, to do things based on money and not love or personal fulfillment, but it is also realistic.

Money makes the World go Round!

What is money? Just paper right? Why then does it have so much value in our lives? In this world, no matter how much of a saint you are, you’re still going to need money. As humans, we want more than what we have. We’re all greedy for money. We all want it in our lives because it’s what pays our bills, gets us groceries, and pays for all other expenses. If we don’t work to get money, we’ll be on the streets. Doing what you ask? Begging for money. It’s a never ending circle. No matter how much we say that we don’t need it, the fact is we do. We need it today and we’ll always need it. It’s when you spend it on things you don’t really need, that’s when we get too materialistic. When we go to the store, we’re always tempted to get unnecessary items and at times we can’t resist our temptations. Before people worked to get food on their tables, today people work, for education, their children’s education, for those two week vacation trips and for all the bills that never stop coming in the mail. The truth of the matter is that if there isn’t any money, the world wouldn’t go round. Nothing would have order in this world because there wouldn’t be a reason for there to be. We do everything for money!

Is Money the Main Drive?

When people are addressed as materialistic, the term materialistic is not seen in a good sense. But is it logically to call one materialistic? I think we all can agree that money is the most materialistic possession in the world. For example the middle class citizens of the United States, which make up for most of its population spend almost their whole life working towards money. Picture this, a little kid going to school to gain knowledge to gain money later in life. When he/she get older they find a job in order to gain money, in the mid years the person works more to gain experience to succeed to a better and higher position to gain more money and then when the person has finally at the highest they can achieve in life he/she saves the money for a good retirement. Looking back, we can see that the person spent most of their life trying to earn this material when they can barely enjoy it’s advantages in the end.
Is life too short? Or are people just wasting their time? It is true that one cannot live in the world without money and I understand that it is a very important asset to our lives but sometimes I feel like material things such as money tend to block the true mean of life.
