9- 5

Well the the heat wave is OVERRRR! thank you the rain started falling yesterday. But any who Yesterday was an interesting day I worked my first 9 to 5 office job. Pretty much I was filing papers , using excel, copying and working on a project for weight lose for patients. FYI I work in a Doctors office. And its cool a nice comfy job , that is relaxed.
But I do not know if a 9- 5 for me , I feel like Im missing excitement! So maybe the office job is not necessary for me but hey I still got 3 more years of this college thing at least for me to decided. Hopefully I will be able to figure out what direction I want to go, and will be able to become an owner of a company in the field I am interested.

This is Erykah Badu's video of Window Seat . Alittle old but In the end off the video , which is just a documentary of her , she gets naked and gets shot. I love the idea of here filming a "reality video" if you will was great. She was trying to make a statment and show that she should have the freedom in a free country to liberate her self. In this case the liberating was to be naked and I feel the shooting herself was to show that her freewill was shot down to conform to the norm. Watch the video .

I phone 4 ? Is it worth it

So the new I phone 4g came out! And it is the phone to have . Everyone wants this new phone. It has a new design of mostly glass encasing with metal sides. With 2 Cameras with a higher resolution, video chatting capabilities , quicker and more efficient people are so excited about this new phone. But There are a lot of down sides .. like it has lower memory then the previous I Phone also it drops call and is fragile. But I think having an I Phone is not just to have a cool gadget but having the I Phone or a Blackberry is really a symbol for status to show that you are of somebody of "importance". Anyway here are some images of the new phone.

HEAT WAVE

SO BASICALLY WE ARE ALL MELTING! 105 degrees today and though i loveeee the summer and love to get tan .... but it is way to hott it is dangerous. Everyone is complaining about how hott it is and how much it sucks. Its soo funny how we complain when it is winter ...saying that "summer needs to come". Then when its hott we want to be in the cold. We need to make up our minds. This is just one example showing why we are never happy ! Today we have a insatiable need for instant gratiude. Nothing is ever Enough. But any whoo here are just 3 great ways to deal with the heat.

1. Go to the movies or the mall! This is a great way to stay cool and do something entertaining so you are not wasting your time.

2. IF YOU HAVE TO GO OUTSIDE ( WHICH SUCKS) , make sure u drink 8 oz of water before. This will help you stay hydrated and prepare your body for when you go outside. Also, wear light clothes like linen and light colors that don't attract heat

3. Wait till after 5 pm to go outside , no need to go take a run at 1 when it is the hottest it will be all day. Oh yea wear a hat protects your face

Summer 10 is dedicated.....

Summer 10 is dedicated to finding the better version of me . I want to do this by exploring all the options. I feel that college has completely put me in a bubble and isolated me from the real world. Though i have gained experience and education I have lost my creative side and a skewed look at life. And I wanna fix that. Go back to the things that I use to love ..singing, song writing, volunteer work, reading. All of those things have been put on the back burner because of the craziness that happens and the life style adjustment in college. My first year of college was a complete world-wind changing me, questioning my previous views giving me new one and new ideas. So my goal for summer 2010 is to find the medium between the old me and the new.

whats next

soo 4th of July was a real relaxing! I was suppose to go to Boston with my family for a family reunion but as usual things do not go as planned. But I spent the whole day with my close family and my god son. I took him in the pool trying to teach him how to swim and how to ride a tricyicle. I was great spending time with him . I wonder how his generation will be . Our generation I feel is the generation that has monolpized on the idea of mobilization and globalization because of technology. But I wonder when is going to be the theme for his generation that will make his unique. Something that I see that is on the rise. Is self- made success. Young adults are using what the love and know to create empires and money. I just read an article in essence about 10 different successful businesses that where created by people all under 18! Today thing are changing this is great and I hope this keeps happening. I love to see the progress of people in generation and i feel like the super -speed next generation will help to create stability in this society. I hope that my god-son Blake is one of the all stars.

So everyone now is talking about twitter and how it is basically taking over, becoming the new facebook , myspace etc. But last night as I was reading Time Magazine and there was an article on a new site that is called "skinbook.com" . It is a nudist social network that is used to bond nudist around the world. Though the website is publically known and free to join, they do a scanning process before accepting members. The sight is not interested in "pornographic" material , or people "looking for love" the site is strictly for nudist. Out of 200 sign- ups a day only about 10 percent get accepted. The site wants to stay low on adds and extra applications stating that all those things are "distraction to the members" .
This site which was based on facebook is now blowing up. with its 9000 members it is doing great. Though the owners only receive a small profit , the group of men that created it say that they are not interested in money just a place where the nudist can bond. I think the site is real cool and shows our expansion and understanding of different ideals then the "norm".

WOMEN POWER ...waitt i got to go make dinner.

AS A WOMEN I AM COMPLETLY CONFUSED ON MY ROLE IN SOCIETY. expect now i realize that I shouldn't have a role. I am not nessesarly a feminst but i do believe that wome should have alll the rights but we all know genetically there are some disadvantages and advantages that women have over men. we will never be equal. Sadly but that is a fact that I have came to understand. But a cycle that women need to break so we are in many ways looking for the approval of men. We dress up and do our hair our make up looking for the approval of men. We in many instaances feed into what men find is "atrractive" , and make that apart of our standard. Which leaves the men superior to us.

Also , women in media always plays as the sidekick in movies, music ,television . And not only on the forfront also behind the scences. Women still get payer 10 percent less than males do. Though there are more women that are graduating college and in many instances with a higher GPA. So the question is why? Because we are use to the old standards of a women under the mans wing and following his lead . That now we do not even know how to lead. We are the driving force in the work force now we just have to learn how to lead . And to present ourselves in a light that will make the genders equal.

So yesterday night /this morning was a crazy and fun night. My friends and I went to a BBQ in SoHo for a friends up- and coming clothing label . And in the mist of hangin out I met some cool people. At this event we met some people that I truly found inspiring. I met a Social Media & Digital Marketing of Capitol Records , Advertise Agent and creator , Designer of a sneaker , watch and accessories label, a lucrative website owner and the beauty of it alll.... IS THEY are all under 25. I love to see young people doing their thing. To me that’s amazing and all these people did NOT stifle there dreams they just made sure they were 100 percent dedicated to what they want to do. Also, though most of them did graduate college and some even pursuing graduate school the advice that kept getting repeated to me is to make sure you use your surroundings to sell yourself. And from this it has inspired me to allow myself to do what i find is interesting. And not just to do what is the traditional thing to do. No this is not just what you see on TV, or in dreams this can be your reality. Traditional is out its all about the inventive and I love it. I hope that I can follow through and try to become outlet my passion for music into a new outlet, which could be my career.

voyeurism

Voyeurism- Well today in class we talked about Voyeurism which is the interest or practice on spying or looking at someone. Voyeurism can be watching someone or being the person that watched. To me versions of voyeurism today are all over the television. Reality shows today portray what goes on in peoples life, "non-scripted", raw-cut film. Audiences are fascinated with the idea of watching and observing others lives and what people do. So though people often say it is weird , really its not it is actually something that is becoming mainstream. Also, many people associate voyeurism with sexual encounters and that is not always the case. Voyeurism does not necessarily have to deal with the idea of watching someone for sexual pleasure but the idea of exposing yourself could help to create a new platform for people to understand others. I think voyeurism ( if accepted by the person that is watching) could be seen as a good thing. A way to freely express oneself and not have to explain who one is because people are watching. It is like the ultimate display of your character and who you are as a person.

True Blood

I LOVEEEEEEE this show! True Blood is the new HBO sensation and I have fell for it. The show is about vampires and human beings living together knowingly. In the show vampires are known by humans and are recognized as a coalition within society. The vampires are trying to get use to being open about themselves. In the show the main character Sookie, a human, is in love with a vampire named Bill Compton. The fact that they date annoys other humans and vampires. The humans call Sookie a "fangbanger" while the vampire doesn't understand why Bill would be interested in a "mere" human being.

I like how True Blood shows a different reality which is different then ours which I like because it is a breath of fresh air. I think a lot of people like it because it is a fantasy world that is like an alter- ego for people.

So when someone searched "white people stole my car" the Google search engine then asked " Did you mean : Black people stole my car" I just began to laugh. Many people were upset about this claiming that Google was being biased against black . It kind of started a debate on how corporations like Google view black people and our demographic and what is really true. Why I laugh at this image because Black people fail to realize that the reason why Google asked that question because Google only did that because that is what was searched or put on the internet more. I think Black people as a whole need to unite and stop blaming others for their mistakes. Though black stereotypes do occur I feel as the only way we can change that is to become educated and powerful individuals and educate others about us. How do we do that? Stay in school, instead of getting upset with people that display ignorance towards African- Americans stay calm and try to explain where they are wrong. A large percentage of people do not realize that the statements they say is biased so of instead of black people getting upset we should stay calm so we can show them the truth.
