Crazy Weather!!!!

Why does it feel like winter time and we are already in May??!!! One day it's hot with an 80 degree temperature and the next day it's freezing with a 50 degree temperature. I don't understand!! It's driving me crazy and making a lot of people sick. yuckkk. One night I have the air conditioner and the next day the heater. Sandals one day, boots the next. Short sleeves one day, sweater and jacket the next day. I just want to stick to one thing mother nature thank you!! Next week we are done with finals and we begin our summer vacation but it feels like it's winter break with this crazy weather.

FINALS WEEK!!!!

Finals weeks is here and the sleep has left. I have been living in the library so far finishing up all my homework, studying for finals, and trying to catch up on these blogs. Why did I wait 'till now to finish them??!! I'm such a procrastinator and it's REALLY bad. Coffee and energy drinks are going to be my best friends this week. Can't wait until finals week is over and I can start my summer vacation!!! Puerto Rico and Florida here I come! I already have my tickets. :-) The library has been packed with students every night so everyone is getting there work done and studying. This is no joke. School is sooo not cool. Thank God for Bagels and a Whole 'lot More on 347 so that we can get breakfast at 4 in the morning. yayyy

Final Project - What is life?

I interviewed a few students and asked them what is life. Some of them couldn't answer right away and since the question was so broad it was hard for them to think of an answer on the spot. We live life everyday but to answer the question is so much more difficult. It shows how caught up we can get in everything we do that we forget the meaning of it all. I also asked how they balanced their school, work, and personal life.

Sticking it to the Cheetah!

Sketch up fun - my city

This is a video of a little city I created in sketch up. It kind of looks futuristic and that's what I like about it.

Snooki #2 on the boardwalk in A.C!! hahaha

This man was dancing on the boardwalk in Atlantic City without any music. It just reminded me of Snooki from the Jersey Shore when she was dancing by herself. Funniest thing ever! This old man had some cool moves I have to say. He was definitely getting "jiggy" with it. lol

Helicopter ride in Atlantic City!!!!

Last weekend I went to Atlantic city with a group of friends and we had a blast!!! This is a video of the helicopter ride that we went on. It was sooo much fun and one of the coolest things I've ever done. It was my first time on a helicopter so you can see that I was REALLY excited in the video. It was awesome flying down the shore line of Atlantic City. The view was beautiful! I love trying out new things and I'm glad we did this. You just appreciate life more with all the amazing things that you can do. To think that we started as cavemen to becoming an intelligent population that created things such as helicopters!

"Creatures of Habit"

My friends and I used to always say "creatures of habit" always in a joking manner. However, I recently went to the Career Center's etiquette dinner and at my table was the general manager of Cintas corp. While we were talking he said that people are "creatures of habit" and in my head I was like OMG you say that too?? lol But he stated that people are afraid of change and just stick to the norm and what they are used to or familiar with. I realized that this is very true and that we don't like change because we rather stay where we are already at which is being comfortable. We need to understand that change is good! Change is what brings about new and better things. Without change this world would never advance and we all would continue to stick to the "norm". Thank God for those who love change and are willing to try new things. Because of this we do advance and improve on the things that we have.

Midterm - Mr. Cool

These are pictures of professor Baldwin during our midterm showing us his own version of cool tricks and playing around with different movements so that they could project on the wall. He told me not to sell these photos on ebay so I can only blog about it. Professor Baldwin is the coolest!! (A for the day for me?)

Midterm - Professor's other class

This is a video of the other theater class playing around with a large sheet of fabric. It looked interesting and very artistic just to see the fabric move around. It was like a form of art through movement and looked pretty cool. It was also a little funny but they just looked kind of crazy.

Midterm - Matt the flipper

This is a video of Matt doing one of his amazing tricks!!! This was especially cool when we were able to project it through macs msp. I was scared for his life since he was on cement but he did a great job!

Midterm - Making a projection screen

A very short video but you can see us stretching the sheet so that we could make it bigger for our projections.

Midterm - Trial and Error

I had a great time during the midterm projecting our work by the staller steps. Through this I was reminded that we don't always succeed first try. You have to keep on making attempts until you get it right and find a solution. In these pictures you can see how we tried many different things to project our work until we felt it looked good. It was so sunny out so sometimes we couldn't see our projections but we found a dark spot and were able to see better. We used a fabric as our projection screen and Alejandro and I helped stretch it down so that it could be bigger while others projected their work.

Moving Image - Family movie

I made this song through garage band on my roommate's mac and recorded her reading a poem about family. Then I added the song and her recording to this movie I created in Windows movie maker using my old family photos.

Snow tubing!!!

I went to the poconos for my 21st birthday two weeks ago and had a blast. This is one of the videos of us going snow tubing. This was the one time we all went down together. This place also had skiing and snow boarding but I'm a punk and I didn't want to break a leg lol.

Heidi Montag's surgeries!!

The other day I watched an interview of Heidi Montag (from The Hills) discussing her plastic surgeries. She had a total of TEN surgeries done all in one day! Some of the things she got work on were her nose, ears, jaw, breasts, ribs, back, eyebrows, and cheeks. She doesn't look terrible now but you can tell that she had work done on her and she has aged herself. She looks so much older than 23. Looking at her now I would never guess that she was so young. She was a beautiful girl and because of society and the media she probably felt that she had to change herself to be perfect and "fit in". Why can't everyone just love themselves for the way they are? The different features we have on or face give us character and make us unique. If we all got plastic surgery done to us we would start looking the same... fake. We look at all of these celebrities and try to compare ourselves to them but we have to be media literate. Most of the photos we see are airbrushed and edited. Now that we are using Photoshop and Gimp we are seeing all of the things that can be done to a picture. This should make us realize that celebrities aren't as "perfect" looking as we think. Heidi had mentioned in her interview that her main message to girls is that beauty is from within. She has totally contradicted herself because this is not the message she is portraying. If she truly believed that beauty was from within she wouldn't have gotten all of these surgeries. I think it's sad that the media and society has so much influence on people such as Heidi. We all have to learn to love ourselves and not change they way we are for others. Heidi almost died because she had so many surgeries at once. This shows that this isn't normal to do and we were all made to look different. We just have to accept it.

Eye candy - family photo gallery

This is another gallery I created in sketchup for my old family photos. I still don't know how to record it so that I can move around it and put it as a video.

4th of July - Fireworks!!

Since I was a kid, it has always been tradition for my family to watch the fireworks for the 4th of July. We haven't missed a year. I love fireworks and it's so cool to see what new fireworks they will think of the next year. Sometimes they have smiley face fireworks which are my favorite. I live in Manhattan and the fireworks are watched by the FDR Drive. Since I live right next to the FDR Drive highway we go to our roof and watch the fireworks. It's amazing! This past summer however the fireworks were moved to the west side. This picture is from that time. Of course even though they moved the location we still made it out to watch the fireworks. It's great to spend time with the family and enjoy tradition together. I hope to keep this tradition alive and bring my kids to watch the fireworks one day in the future.

My dad doing a trick with an old toy

This is a video in Puerto Rico last summer. Walking down this strip there are a lot of vendors selling souvenirs to tourists and local people. My dad spotted this toy that he said he used to always play with as a kid. He said that everyone had one of these and they used to do different tricks with it. This video shows my dad doing one of the tricks which I thought was pretty darn cool. They would see who could spin the toy on their hand the longest. It's always fun to learn about what our parents and grandparents did when they were kids and compare it to the things we do today. Now that technology is the core of our world we rarely play with toys that don't involve some sort of technology or computer. It's nice to see us go back to the simple things such as this toy.

Textures - fuzzy pillow!!
