Dancerrr

yuppp... she teaches the SB Ballroom Dance Team! come learn to dance like her =D Her name is Alexis and I love her! lol

I'm an OL

I was just looking through the OL schedule and although I'm SUPERRRRRR excited to be an OL this summer - I'm going to be suppperrr bussy! So I start May 24th and work through to May 28th, I have the weekend off, then start again on June 1st through to June 4th and Start again on Monday June 7th. I mean I think you get the point - I work Tuesday, thursdays and Fridays mostly. So it's not too bad, but I'm also taking classes on Monday's and Wednesdays. I also have to be awake at around 6:30/7am on the days I'm working - ugh!!!
ANDDDD I'm hoping to get a summer budget for the Ballroom Dance Team, so we can have lessons and workshops and what not... Sooo I'm also going to have that to worry about and manage. ANDDD I want to focus on my own personal dancing too, which means taking private lessons at a studio, which costs a lot of money, so I either have to find a part time job or hope my mom is willing to be very generous - so basically I won't be spending much of my time at the beach this summer... lol
But it'll all be worth it in the end!

cannot believe these are going online right now lol

and this is what i looked like about 4/5 yrs ago...

sunsets

i like sunsets

rant

I'm not going to lie - I hate second life! I think it's slow, it's a waste of my time and I don't like going on it. I've tried sooo many times and then it just freezes on me and I give up... sooo I'm not going on it anymore. In actual fact it is getting delete from my laptop in about 5 minutes, because I can't stand the thing.
I wanted to post pictures up from second life on to the blog... but NO! second life decided to freeze and take forever to load everything as usual... so no pictures.. sorry. But it was either no pictures and I remain semi-sane, or I wait for second life to work and lose my sanity in the process. I kind of prefer having some sanity every once in a while.
Anywhoooo... I'm done complaining! see you tomorrow guys!

because I'm conceited... lol

very few of the very many pics I have taken of myself on my phone - hey, what can I say? I'm a LEO! =D

LOVE HER!

This video made me fall in love with her! Seriously - I wanna be like her when I grow up! lol

I'm sticking with the whole dance theme...

she is without a doubt my favorite dancer - Yulia Zagoruychenko - and I met her! =D

hmmm

so considering I obviously have dance on the brain tonight (what else is new?), I figured I would talk about that for a little bit.
I've been dancing for 3 years, almost, and my problem is - I'm a perfectionist! I expect to have everything look correct and amazing right away! I was just watching videos of me, and I never realized how bad I look when I dance...
I've been complimented on my dancing a few times, but I really don't dance that well, and the reason I think that, is because I expect to look like a pro already - which is obviously not going to happen anytime soon.
I am far too critical of myself I think, but I never like watching my videos of me dancing - which reminds me I still need to watch the videos from the MIT competition - I'm kind of dreading watching those.
This is basically just a short rant about how I want to look perfect! But that's not going to happen any time soon...
So I guess I'll have to deal. =)

i dance more...

Dancing a rumba with my instructor

I danced with Jeremy Marchese and he was the best partner ever! We danced the swing to "keeps getting better" by Christina Aguilera!

Public Service Announcement!

ATTENTION LADIES – Latin Heels Are Hazardous To Your Health!
Attention all female ballroom dancers; this is a public service announcement. It has come to my attention that we female dancers have a much harder time than the men dancing out there. Both men and women have to do their hair, do their makeup, get tanned, wear the extravagant costumes; but women have one more thing they have to deal with – and that is the three inch heels we have to dance in.
Heels are difficult to walk in for many women, and now we have to dance in them. These heels have had very negative effects on not only women’s feet but also on their legs. Women – beware! Three inch Latin heels are advertised as shoes to dance in, but in reality these shoes are dangerous and hazardous to your health.
Many women after dancing at a competition have to ice their feet and legs and after years of dancing, you don’t want to see a woman’s feet that has worn these heels for at last 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. The effects of these heels are very hazardous. Women are very likely to have bunions in old age because of all the years of wearing heels, and in the short term they cause terrible blisters, calluses, and just simple foot pain. However, this foot pain can cause women to look absolutely ridiculous when they walk; constantly limping until the pain dies down. Not to mention the knee and hip problems you are sure to develop from all the pressure being put on them.
This is a public service announcement – Latin heels are sure to blister your feet, cause joint problems in your knees and hips, and just give you downright ugly looking feet.

whoa!

Hey guys, I'm almost a sophomore! This blog is going to be a self reflecting rant I guess. I just realized that this school year is almost over, and I'm no longer going to be a freshman! That is just tooo weird for me to handle right now. I'm also sooo surprised at how much I've changed since I've been in college.
I moved from England almost 4 years ago, and I was a pretty quiet, shy girl. I got along with most people, and I didn't have any enemies or anything, but I literally just went through high school just going with the flow. I wasn't super involved in any clubs or organizations. I also didn't really want to try much. I was very much kept to myself I suppose. I mean, I had my group of friends, but according to me, that was all I needed.
Now at college, I am an undergraduate college fellow for ACH (something I would NEVER have done in high school), I'm going to be an OL over the summer (also something I wouldn't have applied for before), and next year I'm going to be the President of the Ballroom Dance Team. The Ballroom Dance Team Presidency is probably the thing I'm most proud of, because it is something that I am so passionate about and I'm so happy I'm able to pursue my dreams in this way.
I just realized that I have changed so much. I'm so much more confident and so much more willing to put myself out there to get things done! It's exciting!
I can't wait for next year! I just got to make it past finals first! aahh!

Dance quotes to live by....

These are for dancers... (like me!)
“Dancing is wonderful training for girls, it's the first way you learn to guess what a man is going to do before he does it.”
“There are short-cuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them.”
“Next time you're mad, try dancing out your anger”
“Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room.”
“I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to to dance better than myself.”
“Dance for yourself, if someone understands good. If not then no matter, go right on doing what you love.”
“Great dancers aren't great because of their technique; they are great because of their passion.”
"We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams."
"Whatever you want to do, do it. There are only so many tomorrows"

“It’s not who you are that holds you back, it’s who you think you are.”

This is just a little something personal... I enjoy looking for quotes (especially to do with dance). I keep them in a word document and I thought I could share a few =)
