i went to a lecture a while ago about donating blood...and here are my thoughts:
My first and only time donating blood was not a good experience, which is why I was reluctant to donate blood for this extra credit blood assignment. My first time, after I had donated blood, I went to the refreshments center to drink apple juice. However, a girl next to me fainted while I was drinking juice. Maybe, this had caused me to faint or my low blood pressure. Basically, I stayed at the blood donation site for eight hours(I even missed class since my blood pressure wouldn’t rise back up) I remember myself fainting, and I don’t want to feel that way again. Because every time I would get up to leave, I felt nauseous and light headed. Although, I had a “bad” experience at the blood donation center, I must say I was proud; three strangers would be getting help from my one donation. I would love to donate blood again, but I am scared of the outcome. I don’t want to repeat the same incident. Also, since my sister was there, I think she would not want to donate blood either. Nonetheless, I realize the importance of donating blood. Hearing Farzana Ali’s story, I am encouraged to tell others to donate blood. Especially, when one donation can save three lives and that every two seconds someone in the United States is in need of blood.
