Tax Incentives

I read an article today that proposed offering tax incentives for those citizens that would vote. Personally, I think that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. We are going to pay people to do their patriotic duty? First off, our voting numbers are on the increase as of the last presidential election. The Obama campaign targeted youth voters, and in turn a huge out pour of college voters came forward. Second, do we really want people voting simply because they're getting paid? It seems to me like lower, quality, voters are more important than high quantity voters that really have no care about the election, they just want to save a few bucks on some clothes from The Gap. Millions around the world dream to be American Citizens. I feel rewarding someone for doing what millions of people dream of would be quite silly.
