stuff...

Do we all just have too much stuff? All too often people get too wrapped in in extra stuff. Everyone wants more stuff than they need. What we need versus what we want. I feel this theme is very timely. These days it is all about what people can afford. With the economy the way it is how are people supposed to buy the things that they need or the things that they do not need.

I was recently watching a news piece on the lives of some people who had lost their jobs. These people were middle class families with both parents working. These people were used to living comfortably. The issue came up as to how they will continue to live their lives the same way and these people picked up extra part time jobs to keep up their lifestyle. They all had fairly big houses and a lot of nice stuff. Things that they do not need, if they would get rid of the things that are just stuff then they would be better off buying the things that they need.

Then again who am I to knock people's "stuff." I am the king of useless stuff. I figure that someday I will need these not so important things but I know I wont. I would like to find the time to get rid of all my useless stuff and filter out my life to keeping what I need. Right now my room is full of stuff and I feel that it would be so refreshing to just get rid of all that stuff, just give it away or something and just keep what I need. Now, I am not saying that I want to give away my computer and my television I am aware that these are luxuries but I defiantly need a computer for school and a television because it is something that I like. The extra stuff I am talking about is old clothes that I never wear, books that I have already read, random gifts that I received that I did not like but feel bad about getting rid of, and other things like that.
