The road to and beyond college.

It has to be asked of the motivation or rather incentive behind the vast majority of students in the United States decision to pursue higher education. While undoubtedly it is a path towards higher wages and career jobs, are the youth of today really doing it for the right reasons.
I feel strongly that many enroll in college as it is becoming the norm and further many more go in without a clue as to what they intend to major in. While this is well and good, maybe a step back needs to be taken for many and a more serious outlook needs to be taken opposed to acquiring debt for 4 years to coast along deciding what they wish to major in which ultimately is a complete waste of time. While I’m guilty of much of the above, my primary point is that university is becoming an extension of avoidance of the real world for many who ultimately would thrive far more through an apprenticeship, travel, general work experience.
