When it comes to donations I am always skeptical. I guess I have heard too many stories on the news about people getting scammed by fake charity organizations. Personally I would only trust the Salvation Army or The Red Cross. I felt bad today for passing up a group of students who were asking for donations for the relief effort in Haiti, but I have no idea if my money will be put to good use.
The other problem I have is with the people asking for the donations. For example, the girl who was asking me tried to make me feel bad by saying, “Think about the children.” I think that was hitting below the belt. They should realize that not everyone wants to donate or can. It is up to the individual and they have to respect that person’s wishes.
