Can you hear me now?
So yesterday I was talking online to my friend, Alex, who is currently in New Zealand and forgot his cell phone back home. When he told my this my immediate reaction was no cell phone? What are you going to do? That SUCKS. Then I thought about what I was saying and how pathetic it sounded. After all, cell phones have only really been widely used for maybe 10 years. Yet the thought of not having one for an undetermined amount of time was momentarily shocking for me. Not being able to call and text your friends all day? Like, OMG. When you think about it, we really have become incredibly dependent on cell phones. I honestly can't imagine life without being able to text my friends during a boring class or to meet up for lunch or to see what they're up to that night. Plus, there's the whole world of "smart phones" to be considered...those phones that have Internet capabilities, E-mail, GPS, "Apps." In a world that gets smaller and further connected each and every day, how does one get through the day without the capacity to be in constant communication? I guess Alex is about to find out...
